South Carolina lawmakers push for lighted signs on ride-share vehicles after student's death

Nathaniel D. Rowland, 24, has been charged with murder and kidnapping. The student's body was found in a wooded area in Clarendon County on Friday afternoon. Rowland was arrested after he was pulled over in Columbia early Saturday, police have said.NBC New York reported"It may wane in the future, but it will always leave a hole in the heart," he said, while reading a statement on behalf of Josephson's family. Seth Josephson is a cousin of Samantha Josephson's father.
'We need to take precautions' like sensible gun control? Oh fuck that, lit up signs in ubers and lyfts shoud solve all our problems...
I've seen a few internet rants from people who were mistaken for Uber drivers, and had to deal with people getting angry at them for not letting them in their car. I doubt signs will solve anything.
Although I am sadden at her loss, you have to question how much of her ability to distinguish her Uber driver was impeded by alcohol consumption and now much was just assumption that it was the correct car. I’ve been know to walk up to a car in daylight thinking it was my car.
And yes, I've done that even after having a few drinks.
Even with a lighted sign you still need to look at your Uber of Lyft app, see the license plate on the car coming to pick you up and match that to the car that pulls up. Then open the door and greet the driver using their name, they greet you back and you get in. Simple!
