The 18-year-old Hong Kong student who was shot in the chest by police during a clash with anti-government protesters on Tuesday has been charged with rioting and assaulting police, the Post has learned.

The teenager was one of seven men aged between 18 and 38 who have been charged with one joint count of taking part in riot, according to police. The teenager was the first demonstrator to be shot with live ammunition since mass protests first broke out in the city in June.The seven suspects were among 269 people who were arrested for various offences on National Day, of those 93 were students.
