The district says the program aims to provide for the health and safety of students and promote a drug-free environment.SAN ANTONIO — At a special meeting Wednesday, Floresville Independent School District announced its board of trustees voted unanimously to approve random drug tests for students.
Students subject to the random drug testing include those in UIL competitions, athletics, extra-curricular and organizations as well as those who have a permit to park on campus.First through third offenses will result in suspensions and a fourth offense will result in the removal from all extracurricular activities.
“This policy update and the program that it supports are designed with our students' health in mind, helping to eliminate a potential threat to the students' well-being, reinforcing our efforts to discourage students from using dangerous illegal substances, identifying substance abuse early on, and assisting with timely intervention as well as support.
