es 7 through 12 at the middle school and high school. But before the program takes effect, the district has been gathering feedback from parents.
Assistant Superintendent Michael Schroller spent the first part of Tuesday's forum walking parents through a series of slides about the program. He said the concept is nothing new, pointing out that similar drug testing already takes place at schools in neighboring districts like Devine, Natalia, Falls City, Nixon-Smiley and East Central ISD. He described it as a chance to curb peer pressure and be proactive instead of reactive.

Refusal to take the test would count as a positive result, the district said. "I did not like that they're going to target our children who are already held to a higher standard over kids that don't have the help at home," said Floresville parent Amanda Barrows. "Those are the kids that are going to be under the bleachers, smoking dope. Doing this, doing that."
