Being a student is difficult, and being a single mother, even harder. Most of us could only imagine the pressures of being both.

Katie Lewis, 22, a nursing student at University of Texas, has been juggling the last few months of her degree and her newborn daughter Allie, all on her own.“During two of my tests I was running out of the testing room to go throw up in a trash can in the hallway.”Katie Lewis never gave up on being the best mum and student she could be.

“I texted Doctor George a few days before the test. I said, 'Hey Dr George, I know this is super unconventional but I’m having trouble finding a sitter for Monday for Allie because it’s in the afternoon. I know you had offered before to hold her during a test... is there any way I can bring her with me?” Lewis told GMA.“Not only was she OK with it, she was so excited to hold the baby. She held her for at least an hour.
