Harrisburg School District clarifies when doors for graduation officially closed

Harrisburg High School's graduation minutes before the doors were supposed to close.CBS 21's Maxine Rose was outside with family members of soon-to-be graduates who told her they had arrived prior to the 7:30 p.m. cut-off time, with one individual telling her they got to the doors at 7:25 p.m. and were still denied by police.

On May 30, the district sent out a letter to families, informing them that doors would open at 6 p.m. and then be promptly closed at 7:30 p.m. The district in the same letter said that each student would be getting ten tickets to the event for free. The superintendent said it was due to issues at past graduation ceremonies.

Information was provided to each graduate that the doors for the graduation ceremony would open at 6:00 pm and close at 7:30 pm. In addition, information was sent to high school families on May 30th and posted on the District’s social media page. At 7:37 pm, the District’s Director of Safety and Security walked outside and looked down the entire front walkway of the Farm Show, and it was empty.

CBS 21 sent the district clarifying questions, asking that if family members did arrive at or prior to 7:25 p.m., should police have allowed them inside?
