According to the Chilton County school district superintendent, this was a federally funded program that helped with learning loss during and after the pandemic.
The cost for the program was about $2.5 million a year, according to Clements. “We have about $9 million of discretionary funds so you’re looking at about 30 percent of our discretionary funds would have to be used for that and we are not able to do that. We would have to cut essential programs to be able to do it.”
“It would have to be board approved and our CSFO would have to verify its finically sustainable and it’s not something that would put our parents in a bind,” Clements says.
