Carmen MacCannon said her favorite part of being an educator is “making connections with my students and their families that last a lifetime... I love being the constant in students’ lives.”
The contest is sponsored by Reader’s Digest. The winner will receive $25,000, a trip to Hawaii and will appear in the magazine. The 19-year teacher is a Bedford graduate, teaches pre-school at Central Primary and hopes to one day receive her administrator’s license. MacCannon said if she won, some of the money would be used to help her daughter pursue a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.
“After having my own student loans forgiven, I would give anything for my child to not have the dark cloud of debt hanging over her for the unforeseeable future,” said MacCannon.
