Gov. Greg Abbott sent Texas lawmakers back to revise an education bill covering school choice and teacher raises, drawing divided opinions from educators.

Governor Greg Abbott has reportedly sent Texas House lawmakers back to the drawing board, after informing them a sweeping omnibus education policy put forward "differs from what the Governor's office had negotiated," according to a spokesperson from Abbott's office.

Meanwhile, both public and private educators are still divided on school choice, with public educators largely opposed and some private educators saying their level support could be contingent on the final form of the policy. Public educators, meanwhile, have largely been sharply opposed to any school choice package put forward by the legislature, arguing that those are investments that should be made in public schools.
