“Our goal is to keep our schools healthy and ‘everyday operations’ in place,” read a letter to parents from D65 Interim Superintendent Angel Turner. “Per public health guidance, we will treat COVID-19 as we do other communicable diseases. We are grateful for continued partnership with our local pediatricians and Evanston and Skokie health departments. We will monitor health trends and make adjustments as needed.
To keep families informed, classroom letters will be sent with individual positive cases as well as outbreaks, where five or more connected positive cases. If a classroom outbreak occurs, masks will be recommended indoors.Remote learning will not be an option for the 2023-2024 school year and students will be given time to make up missing work without penalty.
“We strongly encourage practicing good hygiene habits and keeping up-to-date with all necessary vaccinations, including COVID-19 and influenza,” the news release said.
