The rolled bus was righted by a tow truck about 11.20am on Wednesday. Children’s school bags, drink bottles and jumpers tumbled out of the vehicle’s storage when it was put back on its wheels. Royal Children’s Hospital chief executive officer Bernadette McDonald said seven children aged between five and 11 remain at the hospital, including one child in intensive care and six others in a serious condition.Speaking outside the hospital on Wednesday morning, McDonald said the young patients suffered a variety of injuries in the crash, including amputations, head injuries, spinal injuries and glass shard lacerations.
“Our emergency department, our theatre teams, and our trauma team did beautifully, as well as every staff member in the hospital,” she said. Lineham said several students were taken to the school to be reunited with their parents, but some families were unable to see their children before they were rushed to the hospital.
The overturned bus remained on the scene on Wednesday morning, before it was righted shortly before lunchtime.Munir, who lives in nearby Weirs View, said the school had kept parents informed and was supporting the families impacted.
