With school teachers, trains drivers and civil servants all striking, what do you need to know?

Wednesday's action by teachers inin the National Education Union, which has around half a million members, will hit about 23,400 schools.

If you haven't heard then the advice is to send your children in as normal, as parents "have a legal duty to send their children to school unless they are unwell." In addition, there is no automatic right for a parent affected by a lawful strike to claim compensation if they lose pay looking after a child.
