He is a teacher and does not want to prison, he said earlier. He loved his students and his subjects, German, politics and history. “I cannot do that, transgenderism is contrary to my Christian belief,” he said. It was also contrary to the ethos of the school and the Church of Ireland and to the teaching of all major churches on this island, he said.
Were he to bow to something he knew is “manifestly wrong”, that would be a shame and disgrace on my part, the order is impossible to obey and should never have been made, he said. Noting Mr Burke was confirming in court that it was his intention to continue to attend the school, the school had no option but to proceed with its application to have him found in contempt, she said.

Very sad, and worrying. I can emphatise with people of trans identity but education is a two way street. Imprisoning people because of their fundamental beliefs is anathema to a Republic. Extremism is on the rise.

But the High Court case is not about pronouns. What he's claiming is that his conscience will not allow him to obey a court order to stay away from a school where he has no pupils and which doesn't want him on the premises. It's a conscience born of ingrained superiority.

Teacher arrested over alleged breach of injunctionSecondary school teacher Enoch Burke, who is alleged to have breached the terms of an injunction directing him not to attend or teach at the school where he is employed, has been arrested. 😄 This arrest is not about pronouns but Burke’s refusal to abide by an interim injunction sought by the school on an emergency basis as he refuses to abide by the terms of his paid suspension. It also cannot be good to have a man with this level of anger on school premises. Attention seeker, like the rest of his family. Anyway, time to find out what happens when you breach a High Court order.
