Parents in England could be fined if they decide to keep their children off school from September, the schools minister, Nick Gibb, has said.

...unless invoking the Cummings rationale, endorsed by senior ministers.

Just a wee reminder that Dominic Cummins broke lockdown rules and got away with it. He’s also guilty of being a total arsehole.

Good, about time too, this lock down has caused more damage that this flu.

AddressingLife I’m at the stage in the process of trying to be civil to the probably lovely people in the department of Ed.

Start up the machine again!!

Parents should sue the them if the child got covid in school.

Let me get this straight... The government terrified the public about COVID19 and closed the schools. Now they've realised there's little threat to children from catching the virus at school, they're backpedalling and punishing parents for reacting to their own fearmongering!

Good luck with that

Big Brother again with threats of fines.

Perhaps they should also consider fining the parents who send children into school displaying symtoms.

I think not some how. There may be a few parents taking the goverment to court for accountability.

Oh now really.. what is the “Positives “ about this attitude. So torment the low income groups well done in the insensitive department you win First prize for “lack of empathy”

First child has died from covid after catching it in school in the US, pupils and teachers have caught it in Dundee sounds super safe 🙄 can you 100% guarantee it’s safe ? No you can’t who in their right mind wants to risk it ?

This has always been the case. If you're not comfortable with your child returning to school, take them off roll and home educate them. No fine. This is a non-story.

The return to school story that nobody is covering: staff in the extremely vulnerable category who have spent 5 months staying safe at home. Now being forced back into schools when the scientific advice is to avoid indoor spaces with people from several households.

Extortion. It's called extortion.

Nick Glibb, hypocrisy personified....

Please read below! This study unfolds the truth about children and Covid-19. A study of European children with Covid-19 suggests serious illness is not rare. Four of the 582 children studied died, two of whom had known underlying health conditions.

Doesn't that mean the parents can sue the government for negligence and endangering children if they don't set the schools up to prevent illness?

Can we fine the politicians for making such an arse of things in the first place and getting us where we are now?

Needs to be extremely clear what the criteria is when/ if local lockdown occur. 1 child/teachers? 5? Not hearing any local, regional, national strategy if CV rates go up again, nor what this means for furloughing again, or not, if a school suddenly needs to be suspended again.

It's a fine I'd be happy to ignore and go bankrupt refusing to pay!

What the parents don’t understand is keeping their children in a constant state of fear and anxiety over the common cold , will be the demise of those children when it comes to future opportunities—

BretBaier New York City Is Dead And It's 'Only Going To Get Worse' the blame for all this lies firmly at the feet of two people, Leftist Democrat Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio.

This is beyond disgraceful. Fined for trying to keep our children safe!!!

Direct Debit?

The question is how do the Tory Neanderthals and declaration of punishment will In force this. What if every parent don’t send their children to school. This is joke of policy

But as Dominic Cummings has shown us, all good parents just do whatever is necessary to protect their children and there are no consequences for doing so

Get rid of that incompetent old bungler Nick Gibb. How dare he threaten parents with fines when this inept government has done nothing to ensure children can return to school safely. I notice they're not letting Williamson anywhere near this.

If the notion of 'fines' worked both ways, everyone would accept it, ie: if children go to school and there's an outbreak and some/all of them test positive plus teachers, then the gov should be fined.

Hmm, pay a fine or send your kids into a potentially deadly environment 🤔

De register, for home schooling, then parents will not be fined!

We get a lot of 'could, may, maybes' over here, too. If it's news, it's happening, otherwise don't bring it.

We have no homeschooling here, so parents can be fined if their kids don't go to school - but I doubt very much if this happened for Corona!!!

That's messed up.

Fix this problem and their parents wouldn’t mind sending them.

ou look at a bunch of fools deciding what's better for someone else's kid

Note to headteachers reporting such absences: however you pronounce the name it’s always spelt DOMINIC CUMMINGS and the address is ℅ Barnard Castle. Note to magistrates hearing such cases: the sentence is to hear praise for them for helping to keep the community safe.

So they really want to hurt your children. Bring you child there you will see

The government approach to this issue, what it ISN’T saying is A masterclass in prevarication&equivocation in misleading the public. Kids may NOT get a bad dose of Covid but they are fully able to PASS ON a full dose to adults 🤦‍♀️🤬

I wonder, following the exam debacle, how fining parents, already thoroughly fed up re lockdown, exams, holidays and job losses, will play with the public? BorisJohnson and GavinWilliamson could do without more rotten tomatoes.

After what just happened in Scotland 🙄🙄 go feck ya fines

Insanity

Not only do the Tories rip us off while incompetently running (ruining) the country, now they legislate their bad ideas... I think Tories should be held to account for their corruption and theft, unfortunately, the British press doesn't have a backbone. All owned by Tory donors.

'The PM says'... Well it must be true, then.

How dare they threaten us with fines?!?

Pupils have a right to life, parents have a right to protect their children, that takes precedence

The government should be fined for sending children into an unsafe environment with no specific guidance or help. As usual BorisJohnson nowhere to be seen when or heard from when actual leadership is needed.

But they will be alive 😜

2 can play that game -My kids get sick I am suing someone's ass for criminal negligence and lying about the dangers and forcing them into a deadly situation ok

Being fined for trying keep their children safe from a deadly virus which the government clearly doesn’t give a stuff about? No thanks

BretBaier Let's face it remote learning only helps those who are already advanced

Just rotate the school year by 3 months. The vaccine should be out soon.

What happens if the child has serious health conditions/is at high risk?

I'd accept that, if we could fine our Government for being a bunch of incompetent charlatans.

😡😡😡😡 You want kill the children ! Parents must go to the justice now !

Also cancel their child benefit.

Scamdemic. Stop reading these shit rag govt propaganda mouthpieces! Say no to the vaccine!

Coronavirus: Children are at more risk of long-term harm if schools stay shut, govt adviser saysThe chief medical officer for England has said children are more likely to be 'harmed by not going than by going' to school. I don’t think it’s really ever been about children being harmed by it. The danger exists where you have over a thousand people socially mixing 5 days a week where transmission of anything infectious is likely, then going home to people who are more vulnerable. but much less likely to catch Covid 19 and die. Or pass it on to family who then also die. Go take a running jump. Losing a parent to COVID-19 will cause some harm...
