The South Bay union includes about 90 principal and assistant principal members

Sweetwater Union High School District principals and vice principals have established a union, officials announced last week, becoming the third such union for school administrators in the county. The new Administrators Association Sweetwater Union, which includes about 90 principals and assistant principals as members, was voluntarily recognized by the school district without needing an official election conducted by state labor regulators, union leaders said.

Members of the new union hope to, among other things, improve benefits, establish reassignment protections and formalize processes for hiring and interviewing, said Carlotta Love, assistant principal at Chula Vista High School and another union organizer.
