A 20-year-old student who was critically injured in a kayaking incident in Glencar near Killarney, Co Kerry last Saturday has died

The woman was among a group of 20 from the University of Limerick kayaking club on a trip to the area.

She and a 21-year-old male student got into difficulty in rough waters near Lake Caragh at around 2.30 last Saturday afternoon. A multi-agency HSE lead rescue operation was launched and the two were airlifted to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee.The male student remains in a stable condition.
