Three quarters of parents are satisfied with their kids' education, but some parents are happier than others.

Nope

I have 2 kids at 2 different private schools- one is absolutely worth every cent, the other is merely meh with no value added. Every school and every child is different!

Whatever floats your boat. Isn't having the choice what makes our country great. Unless your only choice is private then there's no issue really. To those that argue the govt shouldn't fund private. Imagine what happens if those schools go under.

Limited difference in educational outcomes but huge difference in ability to protect children from undesirable ideologies

Certainly for the school! abcnews auspol

No I don't think so.. it's just a money wastage and other thing is that where one can't afford school on the other Hand some indian goes abroad for studies.. why the hell they creticize Indian education system

My older brother went to a private school I went to a public school Big difference he has old boy and school tie network I didn't have teachers for most classes and left at 15 to start work as was a easy of time at school

What a complete waste of time - the poll's results were always going to be a foregone conclusion. Those polled obviously think it's worth it because they continue to spend money on it. Private is worth it for a marginally better education, but it's certainly not value for money

Absolutely. No question 100,000% worth every penny...

Dunno but of all the great, smart programmers, IT engineering and developers I’ve hired not many were private school educated. Although the real estate guy I last used was, and his mate the loan broker too went to the same private school.

Who cares about satisfaction, look at vce results and career outcomes

Yes. You get teachers who are dedicated and passionate about teaching, not activists. State sponsored indoctrination isn't on the curriculum. They actually care about creating and maintaining a healthy education environment.

ABC: Review your report on lack of qualified maths teachers, then ask parents why they choose private schools. It mattered to us that our kids' teachers actually had uni degrees in subjects they taught, some with PhDs.All competent maths educators. Not an option in state schools

It saves parents having to network themselves, saves them having to spend time giving their kids interesting experiences etc. I wonder why so many private school kids need extra private coaching if the education they get in class is so good.

No

Education is so much more than the basics, school fees might plunge one in to poverty, but there is no question about it, there are many subtle advantages to those who attend a well resourced school.

Really, again? I’ve never met a person who was a compelling argument for private education

Let’s put it this way : the classes are smaller & the teachers treat the kids better cos they wouldn’t dare not as mum & dad are doctors & lawyers who can sue at drop of a hat .

They seem to be pushing an agenda ... ask why? Is it part of the all should be clones of each other? Or is it part of the dumbing down of education that as are seeing everywhere . Most can’t speak properly.

I didn't like having to put my through the religious private schools but anything was better than having them endure the feral out of control public system.

Click bait ....

Why don't parents just send their kids to public school and pay a few grand for private tuition after school instead? Much cheaper

Depends 100% on the child. Some thrive at the local public school and sink at the elite private while others thrive in the private school environment.

Some would see it as an investment in social kudos and future connections. As noted, there's parts of the country where you'll be asked for the rest of your life where you/your children were schooled......

Private education is like private health. At the end of the day they both rely on the public system. And when your kids finish school guess where they go? To a public university.

Fully satisfied with my boys State schooling.. yesterday VCE teacher had made wraps for students for after their exam!! 😍 above and beyond..

What a flawed poll! As if any parent paying $60k a year for 2 kids is ever going to admit to themselves or anyone else that they're unhappy? They have to justify it somehow! Why not just show us a poll on the difference in performance vs $ invested by parents?

Not for the taxpayer or public school student who sacrifice their money and educational resources respectively for it and get nothing from it but being surrounded by entitled prats.

Work hard, work your way up to top tier talent at the abc and you could afford it too.

Yes and it’s not worth debating.

NO.....my children did both, when I pulled them out in years 10 and 11 they went to public, both excelled. Best thing we ever did .

Well.. as the kid from Ravenswood or Shore with moderate grades in Law & business is currently walking into a gig at top law or merchant banking firms, care of the old boys network.. while the public school kids are fighting tooth & nail for internships... Probably ... Yes..

What about the millions of dollars that public schools lose out on because the money is going to privates?

Is anything 'worth it'? The good citizens are addicted to living in servitude to megga bucks row..... 'must BUY the best for my children' - doh!

I say no. And I say clickbait.

If the question needs to be asked you’re probably answering own question! tramchants

Hell no.

stop funding private and religious schools. We are the only country in the world that gives tax dollars to private schools. Muslim countries give similar amounts as us to religious schools.

Never, unless parents are primarily setting up the kid for networking & get 'jobs for the boys'!

Ask the high flying (business class) well paid execs at the ABC.

Nope lol
