Most Florida Schools Opt Out of Arming Teachers

Only seven of Florida’s 67 county school districts—Bay, Gilchrist, Lafayette, Levy, Okeechobee, Putnam and Suwannee—say they have approved or would consider arming teachers, according to a survey of school officials by The Wall Street Journal.

Three others—Baker, Jackson and Okaloosa—wouldn’t say whether they have authorized the move.Since 1998, there have been more than a dozen shootings at kindergarten, elementary, middle and high schools that resulted in multiple deaths. These are some of the victims.

Good thing - because research shows unintentional shootings are more likely result - and parents/teachers overwhelmingly oppose. I support funding for more SROs, but only if they're trained to work with minors & not be simply 'school cops' (and most aren't).

This a school not a military boot camp or the military installation. The safety of ALL the children is paramount however; let the police experts do what they were trained for and many new issue that follow. No guns in the schools nor guns for the teachers. ♀️

TrueFactsStated STEM school in CO had a trained marine who was also a sheriff’s deputy armed on the day of their shooting. He shot a student while shooting at the muzzle of a cop’s gun. Students took the shooter down because 99% of the time a good guy without a gun stops the bad guy w a gun.
