To make attending college more affordable for low-income students, the University of Texas System of Board of Regents voted unanimously Tuesday to create a $160 million endowment for financial assistance from the state's Permanent University Fund, according to a news release. The program will take effect in fall 2020.
"This will benefit students of our great state for years to come."The median household income in Texas in 2017 was $59,206, according to the US Census Bureau.Read MoreThe initiative will cover about 8,600 undergraduate students, according to the news release. The Austin campus, ranked No. 15 in public schools by the US News & World Report, has about 41,000 undergraduates.
I wonder what the other stipulations will be, besides income? I have been trying to finish my bachelor's for a while now, but running out of undergraduate federal student loan money.
Finally teachers won't have to work 3 jobs to put their kids through college!🧡🧡🧡Ut
Does this include students getting their Masters and PHDs?
Why not 65,001?
But they’re taxes will show how it’s free
Because a family of four making 70k a year is living high on the hog so they can afford tuition. It’s time to make college free for everyone. 65k is an arbitrary number.
Is there any country who offers free college? Maybe snowflakes can go there!
Hope other Universities will offer this opportunity
WHEN I HAD MY LEGS UP ON BED THAT PICTURE I STILL COULDNT SCROUCH DOWN LIKE THAT
THE I AM U IS SO GOOD I DONT NEED TO WORRY I WOULD BE HAPPY TO GET A NEW Q FOR YB BB IF U WANT OR GOLF OR ALL 3
Ha ha! Good luck getting in. UT plus every other univ and comm college in TX has the most cumbersome application/registration processes I’ve ever encountered. Purposefully confusing and thwarting, & I’ve been to 7 colleges in 4 states. Texas doesn’t want kids to get an education.
Those kids should no be able to go to college they don't deserve to
This coming year my son is senior you don't know how much we are worry ☹️
All this free shit after I graduated 😒
Yes they will. They just don’t know it.
Can international students also apply?
Socialism!
who is funding it? You get what you pay for in life. or dont pay for.
Wait a minute that's socialist according to the GOP
Who said only steers and queers come from Texas, look at that a State big enough to be in the GOP is covering tuition for Poor folks. Awesome.
I want to benefit too if advanced nursing is inclusive?
It’s either better to be poor or rich in this country now, middle class have been shoved to the wayside.
Hope this is not a decoy
