: A madrasah teacher was among four individuals detained in Selangor and Kedah between June 14 and July 3 for their alleged involvement with terrorist groups.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said the religious teacher who is a Myanmar national, was arrested last Wednesday in Alor Setar, Kedah.“The suspect was arrested for supporting the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army,” he said in a statement today. Abdul Hamid said another arrest involved a 54-year-old Filipino man on June 14, who worked as an electrician, and he was suspected of having ties with the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group as well as being involved in kidnapping for ransom activities in Sabah waters. —
