Students would place their mobile devices in the bags during class.
The proposal was championed by Sen. Ryan Aument, R-Lancaster. He said smartphones and social media apps have contributed to a steep decline in children's mental health, as well as caused academic performance to suffer.'Kids spend so much time on social media and using their smartphones that it's taking a toll on them mentally, emotionally, and academically. Smartphone restrictions have proved successful in reversing these trends.
