SAN ANTONIO- The third public meeting is going on right now at the Texas A&M on the southside. Southside landowners are learning what they can and can’t do within a 1- and 2-mile radius of the Texas Toyota Plant.

She says the Southside is one of the few areas in the city where there is still available land to be developed. In late summer, the city council will vote on a proposed industrial compatibility overlay district for the southside area surrounding the Texas Toyota Plant. The city will limit what can be built within a 2-mile radius of the plant.

Whitsett believes the city’s proposal for an overlay is unfair to about 4,000 landowners this overlay could affect.
