There are few milestones in life quite like college graduation. The cap and gown, pomp and circumstance, proud parents and the personal sense of pride make it one of the most memorable times in many young men’s and women’s lives.

The hardworking students who just want to go to class, get an education and celebrate getting their diploma have been prevented from doing so, physically and administratively. I may not agree with the viewpoint of many of these protesters, and that’s all right. They have just as much right to voice their opinion on the quads of our college campuses as I do on the pages of this newspaper. But neither they nor I have any right to commit crimes. And that is what is happening on our campuses all over the state.

I have proposed two remedies to this problem and am calling for immediate action on them in the Capitol.
