University of Glasgow staff have been left 'concerned' after waking to find their wages missing from bank accounts.
Unions have called for the error to be fixed as soon as possible, with concerns raised over the payment of bills including rent, mortgages and direct debits which could go unpaid. Unison has called for Glasgow University to compensate any staff who are out of pocket due to charges incurred by the incident.
Branch Chair at University of Glasgow, Sophie Watson said: “We understand there are technical issues with a number of banks. However, the university need to get this fixed urgently and compensate any staff who are out of pocket. Rent, mortgages and direct debits could go unpaid, and staff could go overdrawn and incur further charges.
