ByWILLIAMSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — An Ashtabula County woman was killed and a man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday and drugs or alcohol might have been factors, authorities say.
Julie Gore, 33, of Williamsfield, was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Cleveland after the crash on Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road but died of her injuries, the State Highway Patrol. The driver of the motorcycle, Anthony Konopinski, 43, of Williamsfield, also was flown to University Hospital, WKYC reports.
The crash occurred just after 2 a.m. Saturday. The Highway Patrol tells WKYC that Konopinski went off the east side of the road and hit a mailbox and a bridge before ending up in the creek below the bridge. Gore reportedly was trapped underneath the Harley-Davidson following the crash. Neither Gore or Konopinski was wearing a helmet, the patrol tells WKYC. The crash remains under investigation.
