Joe Biden and Donald Trump's student loan forgiveness policies could skew the election to one side or the other.

Student debt could have a major impact on who wins the presidential election this year, a new survey from Bankrate indicates, but it matters less for one of the youngest groups of Americans.While only a small population, or 17 percent of U.S. adults, has federal student loan debt, President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump's policies on student loan forgiveness could skew the election's results toward one side, according to the poll.

'They should also avoid one-size-fits-all solutions, and instead consider a range of options like income-driven plans, interest reductions, and targeted forgiveness.'While Biden has been known for his moves toward larger student debt forgiveness plans, Trump mandated a pause in student loan payments during the pandemic.
