Defining the News

The Commission on Higher Education recognized on Friday the 56 Philippine universities and colleges that made it to the 2024 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, noting an increase of 93 percent from last year’s figures.

Several HEIs secured spots within the top 100 for specific SDG goals, highlighting their focused efforts in the following areas: no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, climate action, peace, justice and strong institutions. “We are witnessing a paradigm shift where universities are actively integrating social development goals into their core mission,” De Vera added, underlining the vital contribution of education to achieving the UN’s ambitious goals.
