Cops are investigating a blaze that has ripped through a former primary school.

999 crews raced to Gartsherrie Road in the town at around 7.45pm on Sunday, June 9, following reports of a fire in the area.Images shared with the Glasgow Times, during the fire, show the building was engulfed in flames.Another added:"Aww this is such a shame. Heartbreaking."

The feelings of sadness were echoed by local MSP Fulton MacGregor, who said:"Sad night, especially for those with memories of attending school there." Meanwhile, pictures showing the aftermath, show the blaze ripped through the building's roof, windows, and red brick structure.said: “Around 8.25pm on Sunday, June 9, 2024, we were made aware of a fire at a derelict building on Gartsherrie Road, Coatbridge.“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 7.
