Cranbrook in Sydney's Bellevue Hill has been accused of not fully cooperating during an investigation into its federal funding eligibility.
In March, the ABC program revealed allegations of a toxic culture, workplace bullying, abuse and that the then-headmaster Nicholas Sampson had kept on and promoted a male teacher who had sent sexually explicit messages to a former female student. As of June 4, the school still had not provided answers to two questions about its policies on bullying and harassment nor has it responded to a question about whether the school's council oversaw any investigations.
Senator Allman-Payne said that Cranbrook had banked $34 million in federal funds over the past decade and pocketed $480 million in fees."Obviously, we would hope the school would be more cooperative in this matter," Assistant Minister for Education Anthony Chisholm told the parliamentary committee. In a statement, Cranbrook said it "recognises the serious nature of this inquiry and has been working carefully and methodically through its records" to provide the information requested.
