NATHANIEL FRAZIER For the Eagle The Wallace Govs' baseball Class of 2024 now has nine members who have earned scholarships to four-year schools. The latest is Ellis Yohn, who committed to Wingate University in North Carolina.
The Smiths Station native has been a big part of the Govs' success in the past two years. On the roster he is listed as a utility player, but he has been much more than that. This year alone he played catcher, pitcher, left field and designated hitter. People are also reading… As a hitter, Yohn bat .315 his sophomore year with three home runs, three doubles and 31 RBIs. On the mound, he was 4-2, struck out 36 in 41.1 innings, averaged 7.84 strikeouts per nine innings, and he tossed two complete games.
