Update - 4:05 p.m. As a result of the investigation, officers have identified the youth believed to be responsible for the message written in a bathroom at Lively District Secondary School on May 30.
The identity of the youth is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, therefore no further information related to the youth will be provided. “In situations where one incident is reported, it is not uncommon to see additional incidents reported,” said Dunn. “We thoroughly investigate each incident independently to determine the credibility of the threat.”
Then on May 6, Greater Sudbury Police officers were dispatched to l’École secondaire catholique l’Horizon, operated by Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon, in Val Caron after students discovered a threat about a school shooting written on the bathroom wall. “Based on the investigation and in consultation with administration and the youth’s parent, the youth has been referred to a diversion program under the Youth Criminal Justice Act,” GSPS said.
The investigation into that threat incident is ongoing, GSPS said May 30, and the person or persons responsible for the threat have not yet been identified.
