The 26-year-old woman entered a guilty plea to homicide by vehicle and related offenses earlier this week after she hit an 11th grade student who was trying to get on a school bus in October 2022.

26-year-old driver who fatally struck a teenage girl as she was trying to board a school bus in Newberry Township in 2022, of Red Lion, was driving her Hyundai Accent west on the 500 block of York Haven Road on Oct. 26, 2022, when she hit Arianna Landis, a 16-year-old 11th-grade student at Northeastern High School, around 7 a.m. while she was trying to board a school bus.

McGahan told officers she “must have been distracted,” and said by the time she saw the red school bus lights “it was too late.” Surveillance footage pulled from the school bus showed its lights were activated for 8 seconds before Landis was hit, according to an affidavit. Police said all lights and sirens on the bus were working properly that day.

McGahan entered a non-negotiated guilty plea for the following charges on Tuesday, May 28: homicide by vehicle, meeting/overtaking a school bus, careless driving – unintentional death, careless driving and failure to comply with license restrictions.spent her free time working at Bobcat Creamery in Manchester, volunteering with Central PA Horse Rescue, and taking care of her horse named Rio. She was also a member of 4-H and the Susquehanna Fire Co. in York Haven.
