SMJK Chung Hwa Tenom student Chiew Hai May, 15, came up with the project as part of the #StandTogether National Kindness Week movement after noticing that underprivileged students avoided activities after school because they couldn’t afford lunch.
“Now, even though I’m not rich, if I can help to provide food to those who are hungry, I will do it.”this month in conjunction with the #StandTogether National Kindness Week movement initiated by R.AGE and property developer SP Setia. “I noticed the students brought to me were also very good at music, so I wanted to give them an avenue to express themselves.”
Tenom district education office head of human development Maxcimus Michael lauded Chung Hwa’s initiatives, saying the projects should be adopted by others in the district. The school was also one of 40 to receive a grant of RM1,000 from SP Setia and R.AGE to carry out their projects.
