by Jared Turner, KUTV“Lockdown Status Protocol” was initiated at Roy High after a student was taken into custody for possession of a loaded weapon near school property.
Investigators said there was a group of juveniles near 2050 West and 4800 South – just east of the high school – who were flashing apparent gang signs at passing drivers.The driver then called 911 emergency dispatchers.Three guns taken from Roy High students within two weeks, but no 'threats' They said the students fled on foot towards the school, but officers were able to reach them before the boys made it to campus.Each of the boys, they said, was a student at the high school. All were taken into custody. One was booked on gun charges into Weber Valley Detention.Police were working to determine why the boy had the handgun, and how he got it. They believed the incident was gang related.
