A primary school in Leeds have drafted in the German Shephard following 'recent incidents in the community'

A primary school has taken the drastic measure of hiring a guard dog to combat a surge in anti-social behaviour.

One parent, who wishes to remain anonymous, told LeedsLive: "There are no signs to make people aware no messages to parents and worse of all the handler is using a muzzle that is way too small for the dog which will be making the dog distressed. One parent with children in KS1 and KS2 said: “Around this area there is a lot of vandalism around cars and people are scared to go out at night. I am 100% in support of this for the safety of the children and staff.”

A spokesperson for Cottingley Primary Academy said: “We take the safety of our pupils and staff extremely seriously, and we have put in place security arrangements as a precaution following recent incidents in the community.
