Signs that indicate tolls must be paid to use the Longmeadow Parkway Fox River Bridge near Carpentersville, which will open later this year, are to be removed April 30, Kane County officials said. State and local money secured to pay for the span eliminates the need to charge a toll. The Illinois Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on improvements proposed for the Route 20 ramps at Illinois and Lavoie avenues in Elgin from 4 to 7 p.m.

Comments may be submitted at the hearing, emailed to DOT.US20Ramps@Illinois.gov or sent by mail to the Illinois Department of Transportation/Bureau of Programming/ Attn: Lori Brown, 201 West Center Court, Schaumburg, IL 60196.Kane County plans to remove two overhead signs east of the new Longmeadow Parkway Fox River Bridge near Carpentersville that make reference to tolls being charged.

Bonds were sold for bridge construction, and the original plan called for tolls to be charged to bridge users as a revenue source to repay the bond purchasers.The Sleepy Hollow Service Club will be hosting its inaugural Headless Horseman Gala from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Moretti’s, 2300 Bushwood Drive. Elgin.

Representatives for the Grand Victoria Casino present a ceremonial check for $4,800 to Elgin Community College’s Black Student Achievers club to help fund Black History Month initiatives. Elgin Community College’s Black Student Achievers club has received a $4,800 donation from the Grand Victoria Casino to support the group’s Black History Month initiatives.
