The two-day strikes could force some schools to start late or close early, with the stop-work meetings to go ahead as planned in Burnie on Tuesday and in Launceston and Hobart on Wednesday.

Tasmania's public school teachers have rejected a pay offer by the state government, forging ahead with strike action.

Education union officials rejected the Liberal governments pay offer of seven per cent wage increases over three years, arguing for a pay rise of three per cent each year.
