Kwara State governor, Alh Abdulfatah Ahmed has absolved himself from any involvement from the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor for Kwara State University, Malete.
Ahmed further clarified that it is the prerogative of KWASU Governing Council to recruit a new Vice Chancellor as the incumbent CV’s tenure expires. The governor, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr Muhideen Akorede, said social media claims that he was attempting to teleguide the selection process of a new chief executive for KWASU in favour of particular candidates are completely untrue.
While dismissing the post currently circulating on social media as an attempt to blackmail him, Ahmed also dissociated his office or hisAhmed said he has been briefed by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, KWASU’s supervisory ministry, that the University is yet to receive any response to its recent advertisement for a new Vice Chancellor, not to talk of skewing the selection process in favour of any candidates.will follow guidelines enshrined in the law establishing the university which mandates the governing council to supervise the process and forward shortlisted candidates to the state governor for approval.
