Idaho investigators were in Salt Lake to witness interviews regarding allegations of racial slurs directed at the University of Utah women's basketball team.

Utah head coach Lynne Roberts directs her team during the first half of a second-round college basketball game against Gonzaga in the NCAA Tournament in Spokane, Wash., Monday, March 25, 2024. “We truly don’t know what this is,” said Capt. Dave Hagar, Coeur d’Alene police, “because we haven’t talked to more than one person who was a direct witness.“

The traveling investigative team included a Coeur d’Alene police officer and an FBI agent. Those investigators could speak to dozens of members of the women’s team entourage who were on the street that day. “I’m hoping today that we’re at least going to have more to go on, some details of descriptions,” said Hagar. “Without having witnesses to the actual events, it’s been very difficult to investigate.“
