In an advisory posted on its social media account, DepEd said the posts are illegal using the agency's seal and photo of Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte to fool the people.The fake posts offered grants worth P5,000 for elementary students, P7,000 for high school students, and P10,000 for college and vocational students.The post requested for ID cards of students in exchange for said scholarships, which DepEd warned against.
“Parents and guardians are strongly advised not to give out their children’s school information and identification to these kinds of hideous posts so as not to compromise their security,” the statement read.“DepEd reminds everyone to stay vigilant against misinformation,” it added.On March 6, the agency also issued a misinformation alert on similar posts offering “pabaon” cash allowances of up to P5,000 for students from Grade 1 to Grade 6.
