Alaska,Legislators,Education Deal

Alaska state legislators have until Thursday to reach an agreement on a new education deal, which includes a significant increase in school funding. Governor Dunleavy has set conditions for his approval, including provisions for charter schools and teacher bonuses. If the bill is not signed or vetoed by Thursday, it will become law without the governor's signature.

Alaska state legislators are running out of time to approve a new education deal before Thursday’s veto deadline. The deal includes the largest nominal school funding increase in state history. Governor Dunleavy has stated that the package must include his top education priorities, such as expanding access to charter schools and teacher bonuses.

If the governor does not sign or veto the bill by midnight Thursday, it will pass into law without his signature.
