Maddy Alexander-Grout was scared every morning by the sound of letters being pushed through her door. She was worried about what was inside those envelopes and knew that debt collectors could come at any time.

Now I know it was because of my ADHD I got diagnosed in 2021. It was out of control," she added. Despite all this, Maddy could not break her expensive spending habits. She would often find herself buying clothes online as a form of retail therapy, but the temporary boost in mood was never worth it in the end.
During one visit, a debt collector put his foot in the door to stop Maddy closing it. She had to borrow money from a friend to prevent him coming back.
