A member of Cranbrook School’s council has temporarily stepped aside ahead of a program set to air on the ABC about the private all-boys institution.
“As soon as James became aware that a longstanding and close friend was involved in the program, in accordance with clause 9.11 of the Cranbrook constitution, he immediately offered to stand down,” Lovell said. “We understand how unsettling having this media scrutiny is, and the burden, pain and damage it has placed, and continues to place, on many members of our staff and community,” Sampson said.
“The school has carefully considered its position and has taken a decision not to accept the ABC’s invitation to participate in on-camera interviews for the program. “We’re on a move to co-education which has been fully embraced by the school ... 58 per cent of our staff are women ... staff are very upset it does not seem to correspond to the lived reality at Cranbrook.”
