73-year-old Alfred Jimenez died on February 17, ten days after he fell to the floor and suffered a head injury while trying to redirect a student.“He loved fishing, he absolutely loved fishing. He loved working outside on his property. He loves his family,” said Danal Jimenez, Fred’s son.
Mr. Fred worked for the Northside Independent School District for a decade. Danal said he was incredibly patient and was good with kids. “My dad was an amazing man who always saw the good in people and would strive you to do your very best that you were capable of,” said Danal.“Definitely his infectious smile, he can make you feel amazing about yourself,” said Danal.
The medical examiner report determined Mr. Fred died from blunt force trauma and ruled it a homicide but it’s unclear if anyone could face charges. Danal feels something needs to change, not only to ensure the safety of students, but also to make sure that educational staff has all the resources and help they need to avoid dangerous situations.“It seems to be that this is not an isolated thing, it seems it’s a systemic issue and who knows what the correct answer is, but we have to try something,” said Danal.
