SAN ANTONIO - A special needs instructional assistant at Brandeis High School has passed away after an interaction with a student. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, Alfred "Mr. Fred" Jimenez, 73, was involved in an altercation with a student. During the altercation, Jimenez fell to the floor and sustained a head injury.Jimenez succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning. A Brandeis staff member since 2014, he helped meet the specialized needs of students with severe to moderate disabilities.
"Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Jimenez Family during this challenging time. We remain dedicated to providing support to Mrs. Jimenez and her family. In addition, counselors will also be available to support students and staff at the campus," said Dr. John Craft, Superintendent of NISD, and Dr. Geri Berger, principal of Brandeis High School, in a statement.
