No fewer than 9,781 students have been matriculated into various degree programmes of the University of Maiduguri despite the challenges of Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State.

Professor Njodi said despite the security situation in Borno State, over 40,000 candidates applied for admission into the institution for 2018/2019 academic session, noting, however, that the university cannot overshoot the quota allocated to it by the National Universities Commission . He cautioned the matriculating students against committing ugly vices such as examination misconducts, cultism, drug abuse and violent demonstration.
