Chairman, Lagos Muslim Community, Prof. Tajudeen Gbadamosi has urged the new Chief Imam of the University of Lagos Central, Dr. Ismail Musa to be wary of “innovations,” adding that innovations could jeopardise the legacies left by former Imams of the community.The Role of Chief Imam in The University Community
“Things you have to be cautious of are fundamentally in the way of innovations. Innovation and fresh ideas should always be in compliance with the Quran and the traditions of the Prophet. Be wary of innovations that can jeopardise the legacies that your predecessors have left behind,” he said. Ogundipe, however, urged the new Chief Imam to sustain the spirit of love and peaceful coexistence among other legacies that have been laid by the previous leaderships of the community.
Olurode, who said the UMC achievements were made possible by the support of the university management and members of the Muslim community, urged Muslims to continue to give their support to the managment of the Ivory Tower.The Pro-Chancellor of the University and Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Wale Babalakin commended the leadership of the UMC, noting that the past leaderships have laid good legacies which are now paying off.
