A longtime State Department employee announced he would be resigning from his position because of"a policy disagreement concerning our continued lethal assistance to Israel."

He condemned the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel that sparked the current conflict but also said that Israel's response to the terrorist attacks will lead"to more and deeper suffering," using terms such as"occupation" to describe the situation in Israel. He concluded the letter by calling for peace and discussing the people"caught in the middle" of the conflicts.
