University Hospitals did not, as planned, open a wellness center in September at its its former UH Richmond Heights Medical Center property, 27100 Chardon Road.

Richmond Heights Mayor Kim Thomas said she is seeking to learn what University Hospitals has planned for the former UH Richmond Medical Center building at 27100 Chardon Road. Plans for a wellness center, announced in the spring, have apparently fallen through. A ribbon cutting was planned for the former hospital site, 27100 Chardon Road, but September came and went without a wellness center opening.

“Our understanding was that the wellness center was to open in Richmond Heights in September,” Thomas said. “That didn’t happen, but there is still communication between UH leadership and our Health Advisory Committee about our community having access to a wellness center.” It is uncertain whether a wellness center, if established, would be located in Richmond Heights. It had been thought that the wellness center would be located on the first floor of the former hospital building.City Council’s Safety Committee met Tuesday . Highlights of the meeting included:

Those facilities include The Winfield at Richmond Heights, 261 Richmond Road; Richmond Heights Place Assisted Living, 562 Richmond Road; and Grande Pointe Healthcare Center, 3 Merit Drive.
