The Washington Post sent questionnaires to each school board candidate about the most pressing issues in Loudoun County and their top priorities. Official party members usually vote on endorsements in the spring.
Other priorities for Rivera include being transparent about financial operations, retaining high-quality educators, protecting “female private spaces” including bathrooms and locker rooms, and working with bus drivers, cafeteria workers and other support staff.Moore Chandler, who serves as the Algonkian District school board staff aide, said she is running for the board to refocus the decision-making process on the needs of students instead of politics.
Deans said the most important issue is the need for open and transparent communication to all stakeholders that will support the work the board has already started. Other topics she hopes to address include student discipline, teacher burnout, parent participation, and improvingA retired educator, LaBell said she is running to refocus the school board on core curriculum instruction.
